PAYING FOR PORN

Why Pay for Porn?

“You do what for a living?”

This is the first question I’m asked when people discover that I work here, a porn site review company. This is immediately followed by another question.

“People still pay for porn?”

This second question is trickier and much more interesting. It’s at the heart of pornography in the 21st century and will continue to stay there. The question they’re really asking is, “Why do people still pay for porn?”

We live in an age of free information and every type of media you want, from the newest to the most classic of TV shows, movies, albums, books and video games, is available absolutely free with just a little bit of Internet savvy. This is especially true of porn, where a few simple keystrokes on Google will unveil a seemingly infinite collection of blowjobs, sex, peeing, tea-bagging, gangbanging and more. The days of stealing glances at your dad’s Playboys, of slinking into an adult theatre, of renting a movie from the back room of your local video store or even subscribing to a site to get your porn fix, is over. You simply don’t need to pay for porn anymore.

Is It Worth Paying For Porn?

But just like people still wait in line at the movie theatre on opening day instead of waiting for the Torrent to come out, or pre-order highly-anticipated books on Amazon or albums from their favorite artists on iTunes before they’re leaked, many people still choose to spend their money on pornography. They know it’s “free,” but they don’t care. Why is this?

We’re blessed with having a large readership. We have as many different countries reading us each month as there are countries competing in the Olympics. We speak with many of you regularly and you share exactly why it is you choose to spend your money on something you could find for free. There are many reasons why people still pay for porn, including…

You want an easy navigational experience with well-organized content that is without pop-ups or an overabundance of advertising.

The members’ areas of most modern adult sites are a far cry from those of 10 or even 5 years ago. They are much more polished, having had years of users’ feedback to make them run as wickedly as we’d like them to. Advanced search engines, tagging, the ability to save favorites, proper pagination and a slew of other features, which were once wanting, are now commonplace. Some sites even allow you to effectively construct the members’ area as you see fit. You may still get popups, but most systems now will recognize when you close one and not pop again, or give you a lot of extra time before hitting you again. Sites know how valuable paid members are these days and they want to make sure you have nothing less than a fantastic experience.

You want scenes that are full-length and feature your favorite types of performers

Tube sites have tons of content from websites, but the length is often cut short and made as more of a tease than a happy ending. This is certainly true of the big-time tube sites. And while the smaller ones can sometimes provide full-length scenes, they’re typically not current plus you run the risk of getting overrun with pop-ups, or worse, malware that can wreck damage on your computer. If you want a RealityKings girl, you want a porn star who is at the top of her game. You know you can get a small fix somewhere else, but nothing is like joining a site, punching in your login and having access to their vault in its full glory right at your fingertips. Whatever your interest, there’s a similar site that offers the same experience. You just have to find it.

You want easily accessible HD content that you can easily download or stream

Tube sites work on the axiom of quantity over quality. Massive amounts of quantity over quality. However, you know there’s something to be said for stellar video quality and clear sound and its ability to draw you into the action. And you know it’s only going to get better. The first big jump was to HD – 720p and 1080p had us growling with pleasure.

And now 4k, which is set to become the TV standard by 2017, is already available on many of the biggest sites in Internet porn. Not too far behind is 8k, which is already being shot. Meanwhile, the quality on tube sites varies from good to terribly pixelated to worse than your dad’s VHS tapes. And it’s going to stay that way because A) most of the content is stolen and B) they’re not interested in presenting a high-quality product because they’re literally adding thousands of videos every single day. Quantity over quality.

You’re a fan of a particular performer or production company and want to support their efforts so they can continue to make porn you enjoy.

You’re an upstanding human being who also knows the sad reality: Porn doesn’t really pay for most producers. It takes a lot of time, energy and money to produce compelling content and tube sites simply give it away without giving the producers or performers the ability to make a return on their investment and possibly produce more content. We see it every week here. Companies are folding all the time, closing their doors because whatever profit margin there was before tube sites is gone. And your support is very much appreciated by those who run the sites. Webmasters and performers alike are happy to work with members to ensure the content you like is being produced, and actively encourage their members to provide recommendations for new scenes. You can’t get that access without a membership. No way, no how. Membership has its privileges. And you know well what they are.

You value a connection with a specific performer beyond simply enjoying her work.

This is especially true for solo model and individual porn star sites and is becoming a much bigger reason for many people joining sites today. Beyond simply supporting a site financially, you want a personal connection with a performer and this has now become easier than ever. In many cases the performer is also the webmaster – and possibly the designer, producer, customer service rep and many other titles. Their sites are truly an extension of their personalities and they provide a personal touch (personally responding to every email, providing free cam shows, engaging their members in their message boards) that makes masturbating to a clip on a tube site seem dull by comparison. You’re not just paying to watch the performer have sex, but to join a community and to enter into a discussion with the star of the site itself.

You have acquired tastes, whether it’s a fetish with a small audience or a specific scenario you like to revisit with different performers.

The more niche your interests are, the harder it is to find content that reaches the bar each and every time. Even the almighty tube army falters under the weight of so much general porn. You’ve probably already seen this, like when searching for interracial age-play facesitting brings up the same 10 scenes you’ve seen a million times already. Taking a membership at a niche site, say one that focuses exclusively on interracial age-play facesitting, ensures you have a direct line to the content, and the producers, you really want to be connected with. If you pay to play, the game goes on… forever.

You enjoy your porn as others do their hobbies, no different from people who sample fine wines and craft beers and then discuss them on a platform with other likeminded people.

You have a taste for porn that goes beyond simply masturbating to a random scene in less than five minutes and going back to your daily activities. Membership is more than a privilege. It’s a badge of honor, though probably more of a private one. In short, though it may be socially unacceptable to admit out loud in most circles, you love pornography and have no issues whatsoever spending money on it or talking about it with other people who love it as much as you do. That isn’t to say that those who don’t are cheap or are pirates or are entitled (though there are many who certainly feel this way), but they aren’t cut from the same cloth as you. You’re a connoisseur. And for that, please take a bow!

Pay For Your Porn

One or many of these reasons may apply to you, or there are other specific reasons why you continue to join sites. Ultimately, people still pay for porn because there is still a ton of value in a membership to many sites. We review porn sites. We see both sides and everything in between, from the very good to the very bad.

When people ask me what I do for a living, I tell them. And when that inevitable question comes up, “Why do people still pay for porn?” I smile to myself, knowing that no matter what I say, how much detail I go into about the sites I’ve reviewed and the sincerity of my argument, they won’t really get it until they get their first membership. And though they probably won’t tell me when they do, there is a little satisfaction in knowing that at that point they’ll have to admit, even just to themselves, that I was right.
