I had assumed by the name that Direct Chat.tv was a live-cam site, but it wasn't until I actually went to check out the site that my suspicions were confirmed. So is this site different from all the other live cam ones out there? Actually, it wants to be, but it isn't there yet.

DirectChat.tv seems to be very proud of its social features and the community it is creating around the site. However, it is pretty new, which would explain why there really isn't much there. You can add other members as friends, see profiles and send messages, which could be cool, but it looks like most of the people online are either people checking out the site in "guest" mode (without a profile) or the models who are obviously there to promote themselves and get you to check out their cam when they are available.

There is even a new feature that allows you to send tips to models even when they are offline (they better be really good to deserve a tip when they aren't even performing). Speaking of the performing, I found it to be hit or miss (although mostly hit). There are over 1,700 models registered, but when I was on the most I saw were three performers. Of those three, two of them were in private nude chat and the third was in free chat.

I preferred the free chick because I could check her out and see her cam quality before deciding to pay for private time. Whereas with the nude-chat babes , I was immediately taken to private when I clicked on them and the credits started coming off the second their cams turned on. Also, I wasn't told how much they would cost before I started watching. Thankfully there was the countdown meter that told me how many credits I had left and how many minutes that equaled.

Doing the math it came out to about $3.99/minute. This is a little on the high end, especially for non-HD cams. Overall cam quality ranged from average to good, but even the good ones looked a little lower in quality when I expanded the video window.

There are over 1,000 small sets of amateur photos that you can browse for free and there are 126 nonexclusive vids that you can watch for a small per-minute fee. There is also a blog section where you can see all the latest posts from various members and models and sometimes there are links that are a few sentences or a YouTube video.

If this were a large, active community, then there could be some value to hanging out here besides the live cams, but there isn't. And as for those live cams: there aren’t enough online at any given time, the quality is good at best and they are a little expensive. Direct Chat.TV still has some work to do before it is as appealing a site/community as they want it to be.
