At first I thought maybe I was going to get images of the Queen getting out of the shower or Prince Charles getting it on with Camilla Parker-Bowles in the castle dining room. Needles to say, Royal Cams has nothing to do with the royal family and it is instead just another in a long line of mediocre live cam /chat sites.

RoyalCams is a fine looking site. There is nothing fancy about it, but it has a clean design and it is very user friendly. My first order of business upon logging in was to see who was online. To my dismay, of the 250 girls on the site, only 16 were available and 4 of them were in the "friends n' fun" section which meant probably no nudity from them. These weren't great numbers, but it was the middle of the afternoon so maybe it was just a bad time. All would be forgiven if the cams lived up to my expectations. Unfortunately, they didn't.

Each girl at Royal Cams is an independent performer, meaning that they set their own price and use their own cams from their own location. With sites like this you obviously expect cam quality to vary, and it does. At their best the cam images look good, although the movement isn't that fluid. At their worst the image and motion are poor. The problem is that the cams are running on Java as opposed to Flash, which would give them a much better quality. However, there are some great features available, like the ability to adjust the color and brightness, get full screen view, as well as zoom in and out.

Another thing that really bothered me was the fact that there is no free video chat. Every other cam site I have reviewed had a free public non-nude chat option that one could use to decide if they wanted to pay and take the girl private .

At Royal Cams however all you get is a picture and some cursory info about the girl including some of her likes/dislikes, her age, proportions, location and price. Based on that you have to decide whether to join her cam/chat session or not. Even if you enter the video chat and quit right away after seeing her and her cam quality, you are still charged a percentage of her per minute price tag. You can text chat with the girl for free but to see her on cam you have to pay.

From what I saw, most of the girls are from Europe (mainly Eastern Europe) and attractive. Some are willing to get naked right away and others like to chat a bit first. The one good thing is that while the prices per minute did vary, the highest I saw was $1.99 and some were as low as $0.77.The average was somewhere in between. These prices are impressive but you are getting average quality cams.
