The Piercing Room claims to be "one of the most unique sites" on the Net. It's nice that it doesn't make outrageous claims like being "the most unique," but rather contents itself with humble confidence. It's not entirely misplaced confidence either, as it does have some pretty rare material. Sadly, however, 'unique' isn't always a good thing.

The idea behind ThePiercingRoom is that body piercing with its mix of tense anticipation, release, pain and pleasure is, in itself, an intense sexual experience. Each scene presented on this site does it's best to bring you in on the full experience of the piercing process undergone by a selection of gorgeous women.

This is the first time I've come across this type of content and I have to say it is eye-catching and it's very obvious that the people involved take their work seriously. Sadly, however, this site has also had the unique ability to frustrate me.

I get that the subject matter focuses on the dark side of pleasure and relishes intense contrast, so to be fair the design of the site is thematically relevant. That said, I'm not sure white and red writing on a black background is the best way to go. It's hard on the eyes and the few images on the background sometimes obscure the writing.

The content can be access either through the 'victims' or the 'action' buttons and is, in that sense, easy to find. However, I had a lot of problems opening the content itself. The pages were slow to load. To get at the movies , you have to open another pop-up window to select the format, which seems inefficient. Also, while it might simply have been that case that whatever god-demon that lives in my computer just didn't like me as I was doing this review, there might be some problems with how the videos on this site are encoded that caused my players to crash repeatedly.

The content itself is good looking. Each of the roughly seven episodes comes with a gallery providing a pictorial narrative of the action, usually split into three or more subsets. Each gallery, with all its sets counted together, contains roughly 240 average-quality images. However, these pictures cannot be downloaded.

The movies in each episode can be downloaded in iPod and MPEG formats or in two quality levels of Windows Media format. The Windows Media videos are great-quality, judging by their bitrate. Each movie is about 32 minutes long altogether and broken into clips of about eight minutes.

One really nice feature of this site is that each episode also comes with a long, written story narrating the action. If you're into the atmosphere of the site and have a passion for erotic writing, then you'll really like this feature.

The welcome page reports that you also have bonus access to another site, but it's hard to track down a link once you've gone on to explore the main page and there don't seem to be any extras apart from that.

I can't quite give this site a wholehearted recommendation as I found the overall experience of this site to be frustrating and there is only a small amount of material. However, The Piercing Room offers unique content, good stories and some good-quality material. If it maintains its weekly update schedule and you can overlook some frustrating design features, this site might soon become a place you'll enjoy.
