In biology, organisms must adapt to survive. In business, if a company doesn't evolve, it'll die. If you have any doubts about that theory just go and visit your local Blockbuster Video... Oh, wait, you can't! Yet, Netflix is alive and well, even expanding, because it's changed its tactics with the decline in DVD popularity - and that's exactly what's happened with Sugar Instant.
SugarInstant has taken the place of Sugar DVD, which you may have heard of before as it was - at one point - the largest online adult DVD rental store. The company has in fact been online for more than 15 years and that means they've accumulated a sizable amount of content from some of the top studios in the biz, like Filly Films, Lethal Hardcore and Third World Media. And, of course, you'll enjoy lots of pornstars, like Asa Akira , Phoenix Marie and Tori Black .
They still offer the various SugarDVD-style plans that allow you to rent physical copies of DVDs. Each plan lets you rent a different number of DVDs at a time, ranging from one title to as many as eight. Just to be clear, this particular option is limited to U.S. customers with the exception of anyone living in Alabama, Tennessee and some specific Zip codes listed in the help section.
The site also offers a PPV option where you can purchase minutes and use those to stream the scenes of your choice. However, for the purposes of this review, we're looking at the unlimited streaming option they offer. You can browse by "New Additions" and "Popular All-Time," but these don't show you a complete list of the 4,090+ DVDs available, only a portion.
So, you really need to browse by category to track down every title and the over 16350 full-length scenes they offer. There's quite a bit of overlap among some of the categories. but needless to say, there's a lot of porn here!
There's only a basic search, no advanced one - something that would be useful to have with a collection this size. There aren't any tags either, but there is at least a category list that can help narrow down your search. You can also keep track of your favorite DVDs. There are model tags and you can add performers to a list of favorites. The site also has a great recommendation system that suggests other titles based on your browsing habits.
There used to be an HD category, but I can't seem to find it. However, thousands of videos are in Full HD. The streaming footage from their exclusive VR section seems to provide similar 1080p stats, but they apparently film the scenes in 4K so you know they're going out of their way to make a quality product. And speaking of 4K, while there's no longer an HD category, there is a 4K one - and according to that filter, there are 26 4K vids at this point.
The DVDs have a release date, not the date they were added to the site, but we assumed weekly updates of multiple scenes when we were last here and those numbers still add up. Even if the site wasn't growing, it would still be worthwhile, because Sugar Instant is free to join (the 9-day trial rebills at $9.99/month) and is compatible with multiple devices, including Roku, Xbox, smartphones and tablets. And you can use Chromecast to cast the streams as well.
